A fantastic achievement by the Phoenix Explorers as they support the Royal British Legion Industries. The Great Tommy Sleep Out is a fundraising challenge designed to raise funds and awareness for over 6000 veterans that are experiencing homeless in the UK right now.
13 young people, 5 leaders and 1 cat camped out for 2 nights in woodland over the Easter Bank holiday weekend. The explorers created their own emergency shelters with basic materials (no tents) that they found or scavenged to keep themselves warm and safe and cooked on open fires.
The weekend went towards their camping, nights away and survival skills badges. Plus it all takes them one step closer to platinum and diamond awards!
With every penny raised, Royal British Legion Industries can provide safe, warm housing and ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to gain employment, regardless of health conditions or disability.
